SNL, Gravity Skit Makes Fun of Government Shutdown!

type="html">Saturday Night Live actors Taram Killam and Cecily Strong lampooned the ongoing government shutdown with a cold open in which they played the two astronauts from the new film Gravity who got stranded in space - with only a janitor to help them in mission control because everyone else has been furloughed.

The skit that opened Saturday’s show begins with Killam and Strong in the roles of George Clooney and Sandra Bullock fixing the Hubble telescope when they are hit with space debris.

With their oxygen levels plummeting, they frantically contact Houston, only to discover that there is no one in mission control to help them except for a janitor named Carl, played by Kenan Thompson.

A little humor in these difficult times can be helpful.
